CC&P 34: We'll Never Get Board With These Games
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We had an episode about video games before, but now we're going back to where they all began... the 'retro', pre-internet era of board games! Board games, card games, any tabletop venture, we talk about them in this episode and indeed - if you don't add custom house rules to your Uno games... we're gonna need to have a conversation.

SAREENA:
Hello, our favourite fried potatoes! I’m Sareena-
MELISSA:
-and I’m Melissa!
SAREENA:
-and together we’re Curried Chips & Poutine! We’re two friends separated by the Atlantic Ocean, answering the questions no one asked!
BOTH:
Enjoy!
SAREENA:
Hello, our favourite fried potatoes! It’s so lovely to have you all gathered here today! Have you been enjoying the unpredictable weather of summer?
MELISSA:
Ugh, you can say that again! Do you know that it's been raining and super muggy this entire week here in Canada?
SAREENA:
Gross. But even here in the UK, if you can believe it, we’ve been experiencing some soggy days too. So it’s really putting a wet blanket over my high tech picnic!
MELISSA:
Never fear! For we have just the episode to help deal with the summer blues, and restore laughter to the highest order!
SAREENA:
That’s right, beautiful people, we’re talking about forging alliances, taking down evil capitalists, and risking it all at towering heights! So how would you feel, Melissa, if I told you to go to jail, go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200?
MELISSA:
Honestly? The AUDACITY. But I despise Monopoly anyway, so I would a) lose it, and b) just upend the board game even if I wasn't playing.
SAREENA:
[laughs] Oh no - you’re one of those! If you haven’t guessed, we’re talking about board games! So if Monopoly's not your bag, what is your favourite board game, Melissa?
MELISSA:
Monopoly can just eat it, but -
[Both laughing.]
MELISSA:
-there's a game called Tsuro, and it's a really simple concept but it's one of those games where it's different every time you play. You played it with me, but you're putting down tiles and they have paths on them, and you move your little piece in accordance along those paths and the pieces are all random, so you can put them down and make your way all around the board or whatever, 'cause you're building as you go. The only goal is just to survive and not hit other people, or run into a wall. It's fantastic, I love it.
SAREENA:
Yeah, and it's a really cool kind of art style as well. We played that together when I was over in Canada, and I think it was actually on my birthday we went to a board game cafe called Snakes and Lattes?
MELISSA:
Yes!
SAREENA:
And we just spent the whole day playing just so many different games, and yeah, I really enjoyed that game so I actually bought it recently, so. If you're in the UK and you're looking for new board games, try ZatuGames.co.uk - they have so many games, ones I'd never even heard of, and I kind of looked for Tsuro just on a whim, and I was like, oh my god it has it!
MELISSA:
Oh, it's super fun, and it gets more hectic the more players there are, obviously. I remember just playing with my cousins and we're all just like - [confused noise] - and intentional suicide runs, and losing after the first three tiles we put down. And just because, if you put your piece down and someone else is there - [descending slide whistle sound effect ending with a honk] - then they have to go on it too, so you could inadvertently send someone to their death.
SAREENA:
[laughs] Yeah. And it's quite a simple concept, and a quick game so you can play quite a few rounds without having to spend a long time reading through all the instructions, so. It's an easy game to introduce to a new group and that's really fun.
MELISSA:
Mmhmm. Do you have a specific favourite board game, then?
SAREENA:
I mean, I do enjoy Monopoly -
MELISSA:
Ugh.
SAREENA:
[cracking up] - but I haven't had the chance to play it in a long time! I think the last time I played it, it was one Christmas, years ago, my aunties and uncles, and I really enjoy playing board games because people's personalities don't reflect their board game personalities. I like to play the really friendly one they go here let me help. Yeah I can see that you're here let me clean that I'll take these properties that you've mortgaged or whatever but unknowingly, I have enough money to mortgage them, and immediately build, how they're like oh yeah, that you can pay rent.
Unknown Speaker
Wow. That's hilarious. I mean Remind me to never play Mario Kart with you or Mario Party just because that's when gloves are off, man, everyone's spending themselves.
Unknown Speaker
Mario Party is great but that is a video. We'll go into that world. I really like Monopoly, but I also am a fan of like quick card games as well, so Uno always is an all time favourite as well.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah see, Uno is definitely one of those things where it's the goals are coming off and there's no mercy and it's all down to seating order so you know, the people sit next to them, or don't, I guess. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Do you have house rules, when you play your board games?
Unknown Speaker
it's just kind of like no one's allowed to get mad if we have to reread the instructions because some of the games we play cuz my brother is a big huge like tabletop game nerd okay we have a lot of games, and he obviously will have more experience playing this game than we would if we're playing in like the first or second time yeah, you're not allowed to get angry if we have to stop and read the instructions every five minutes.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, that's fair, but I mean like, when you're playing Uno, so I think the shoe rose as you can't actually start like plus two cards plus four cards, whereas if I was to play, I'd be like yes you can stack so if someone played like a plus two card against me I could then add another addition card to it and then the next person has to pick up 100 or whatever.
Unknown Speaker
I think that we had a role where you can stack plus twos on each other but you can stack a plus four on plus twos, but you can stack plus fours on each other. However,
Unknown Speaker
this is apparently a controversial opinion, but you're allowed to play multiple cards, so like if I had for example three, threes or something, I wouldn't be able to play them all at the same time, whereas most, like, oh, you can only play one card at a time, I'm like, Excuse
Unknown Speaker
me, do you want this middle game to last eight years? because that's how you know gave last eight years,
Unknown Speaker
no I mean I play it with just single cards and it goes pretty quickly but yeah, no I can see why that is a popular rule as well but that's why I quite like about board games is like even more at Mario Kart. I don't believe when you play with different people. Everyone has different house rules. And it's really interesting, it actually makes the game really different, makes it really fun,
MELISSA:
but we digress, we'll come back to you know later. Don't worry, it's time for like five minutes of chatting for first question so you know, are you ready,
SAREENA
I'm so ready. Let's do that.
MELISSA:
So, would you rather play with life sized game tokens, or would you rather play with tray sized cards.
Unknown Speaker
Interesting. So when you say life size tokens like is the board, big as well for the tokens to move along?
MELISSA:
decently but it's still too small for the pieces, everything. So if I was using a monopoly like a giant topper, next to me.
Unknown Speaker
In the case of something like Monopoly where there the tokens are actual things that would be that respective size so you would have a hat size hat okay and have a dog sized doggie piece, You would have like a car sized car and you're playing with the car, with like, maybe like a generic piece, like a round token or something, then it's just human size, so that's a tall,
Unknown Speaker
okay but then trade size card or budget like if you had like a ton of cards and oodle each of the like that I guess I need to check my catalog. I think that's for call because the trace.
Unknown Speaker
Just give me like 30 seconds, I have to flip this thing.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Gosh, I feel like snap on just be crazy as you would like, throw yourself at the card or play profile.
Yeah, and imagine trying to shuffle the pile.
I'm terrible at shuffling as there is no one else could do that.
Unknown Speaker
And this extends to you also, even if it's not like playing cards if there's like rule cards or item cards that kind of thing, they're still gonna be tray sized,
yeah, did I just at the heart of the cards, you know, face it face down. Would you go with the cards as well.
I would think it's to the games that I play, also, is that they have human sized tokens, a lot of people on board like ordering a person around I'm like That's weird.
Unknown Speaker
What games do you play that have human size
Unknown Speaker
Sorry, not human size talks about cute little human figurines.
Wow But TensorBoard gave her over.
I'm sure you've seen it but they have like a park chess how they have like a giant chess board on there and like the pieces are like Wait Yeah, but a little different because it's personalized. Yeah,
Unknown Speaker
it's kind of like Jenga you can get that like giant size as well and that's just hilarious but you do have to move out of the way very quickly
Unknown Speaker
if it's coming towards Yeah, I mean depending on how the tower is you might have more time to,
Unknown Speaker
like, dive out of the way. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
All right, well here's my plus two question. Would you rather be able to have access, and play any game you wanted but there's no instruction for your memory of played games will be wiped, except for snakes and ladders or play your favorite games friends at any time but you have to sit and listen to the instructions, every time.
Oh, wow. Okay, so sorry. The first one was I'm not playing with anybody else. So you can play with people, imagine you have this giant library just full of games, you know, games you've never seen games that look so fantastic obey you just don't have to do any of that. So you can make up whatever you want, and the only game that you actually know how to play with snakes and Ladders.
Wow, that's kind of terrible I think
but like the flip side of this is that you do know how to play like Monopoly or whether you have this like computer voice just scored by word telling you the instructions so if you want to switch, okay but other than our play. Let's play Uno, you then have to sit through all of the brutal instructions before you could play.
No, because it's interesting that you kind of present this dilemma because that second one, that one at least would kind of lend itself well to trying out new games never played before, because that's the first thing we do anyways, I don't know about the rest of you guys but the first thing we do is read the instructions to figure out how to play.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, of course, but this is like you could only play your favorite game so you could then when you get,
Unknown Speaker
oh, then I guess I'll go with that first option which make up our own rules? Because sometimes from context good you could figure out what's going on, but then other times you're like, oh that alright so that makes no sense but hey it's a game rules, let's go with it, yeah. Oh god, I you know I got that first one because I can also tell you for the group of friends it's funnier if you guys can figure out how to do. So I think these rules do this like no you can't because I made this move, you're gonna
Unknown Speaker
see what you can do with the pieces and things that you can see but like you want to play like a mystery game I think that would be pretty hard to figure out.
Yeah, that would be a little difficult like trying to play clue without knowing what to do is like, Yeah, but then size weapons, and people tokens here and add rooms cards and checklists, death,
what do you just call it clue. We call it Cluedo.
Yeah, this is clue over here. Oh my god, much like Monopoly there's like theme to clue for everything,
really.
Yeah, because I can hold monopoly, like the video game Monopoly, or like Monopoly series based on your favorite TV show or something. I've actually a lot of themed clue games too.
I think I played Cluedo a lot when I was young. Yeah, but now it's not my go to be
like playing through also but my siblings and I, we also get very impatient, if we're going, and the game is kind of draggy then we get impatient like okay you know what, just make this accusation, whatever, and then we figure it out and then like all you find out who it was, they were wrong so you're out your day goodbye.
Yeah, just like a quick round of gluto
Yes, it was Colonel Mustard in the conservatory with the rope, like you know you were completely and utterly wrong sit in the corner.
So you would go with no instructions and yeah,
I think so. I had that be another bonding experience with the people I'm playing with.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, for sure, and I think I would join you on that one because, when you open up a new game or a game that you play, You do have a peruse of the instructions and then kind of set aside and like, well I'll learn by playing by someone telling me every single time how to play, I'd like,
I think the first time wouldn't be so bad but with every single time that would get monotonous so fast. Yeah, for sure, snakes and lattes though there is someone who walks around and they're called the Game Master, if you're playing a game with your friends, and you're stuck, or getting into an argument about something, it's their job to come in and kind of sell things for you.
Yeah, the referee,
which I think is very smart, but they also made they have to know every single game out there because the game selection at board game cafes, usually they have it like by genre so like you have your mystery games you've got your card game, you've got your strategy game. Yeah, they have to have a good beat any and all of that.
Unknown Speaker
I know that's really impressive as a lot of information but, you know, just thinking about some of the games that we tried when we were there, we play some kind of mystery game of like, I don't know why I'm telling him, a monster right now but you know, I'll just go with it.
Unknown Speaker
To be fair, it's also scary given I like I believe it was the betrayal, the house on the hill, I think so, hopefully, that is one of our favorite games for like me and my siblings, but it is a complicated game because the first half of the game is very like you're exploring a haunted house. But then the second half of the game, that's always different every time. It can get really difficult or can get really confusing or the just the scenarios just aren't fun.
Okay,
it's a mixed bag, but we love that game.
Yeah, and that's cool. Like, I would really, really love to try and have like the heavier or time consuming games but I think because it's not as common anymore to like be arrived with a lot of friends to pull out a board game I would rather play a quick game that we could play a few rides, that has to do because at university, we used to play board games, I think maybe, You know, but don't play with all this data or Jenga wherever just the quick
game, but everyone knew how to play so let's get started right away.
Unknown Speaker
It's the kind of the same for my university group we played, it was mostly card games less so board games we play Euchre, so much by just the regular card game so pow right okay. It's a four player game, but it's very fun, it's one of those games where it is about the cards but those but knowing your partner. Okay, that's how you recommend if you're looking for an old timey playing card game just play Euchre,
Unknown Speaker
my friend taught me I think it was called fool, and it was a Russian game and it's like yeah, it's a bad thing and it's really fun. Yeah, I believe you taught us how to play it. Yeah, it's a good time, and it's good with lots of people because you have to be very strategic with your decision.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, all right. Shall we move on to the next question.
Let's go.
So this question, it can be applied to many things, but in this specific case, I'm just going to say just board games, right. So, Would you rather play a board game with a sore loser, or would you rather play a board game with an up noxious winner.
Unknown Speaker
In addition to myself.
I mean, look, if you're playing a game and there's nowhere then yes, it's you
were very gracious whether I help you know, was, was, it was interesting cuz I was kind of thinking of a question similar to this but I did go there.
Oh really.
Yeah, it's difficult because with a sore loser. You can be having fun, until you know, until you lose, then they you know go in a complete half and then it's like, well, there was no point actually having that experience for you to then just throw it out, noxious
Unknown Speaker
weather, like the client was gloating, like, Oh, look at me, I'm two spots away from winning What are you doing.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, I mean, these are both terrible.
Unknown Speaker
They are, I was like oh man I can't talk about d&d So let's talk about the next worst thing was that a lot I love d&d.
Unknown Speaker
But you can have like things that you do like and dislike about your game so yeah cuz I'm thinking about monopoly, if you have an auction winner that like that's kind of the classic seed isn't that like, oh, Money Day was even a blank lab because I have. I think that's slightly better, like it's like very very literally. Yeah, cuz that's what it was, it just doesn't make me feel good. Like, I'm sorry the game didn't go your way, but you know everyone accepts when you enter a game, but it could go any way, you know, I mean, that's true. That rude of you to come in and think like you could win every game, like, come on.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, but that can go in exactly the same way for the contest winner like they're going in fully expecting to win, and they do decide they will maybe like win a trade harder, like, I challenged you. So I did did it did the downpayment. Yeah.
Wow, that's hilarious me because I have never, I mean especially for monopoly because we had we were gifted some monopoly games but obviously tried to play them and got immediately bored after maybe like the second or third, where I started buying properties and making you pay money I'm just interested in buying the properties, hidden the community just to see what happens to you, that's
Unknown Speaker
the thing is when I play Monopoly we do a lot a lot of negotiating. When I was playing with my aunties and uncles I had like all the train stations so I would then make it like if I do like somebody was struggling, I'm like, Hey, you're the first person to come through the station today you can get a free travel by in exchange can I get like a free pass if I lived on X property, and then built up that way. That's what makes it really interesting if you're just yeah if you're literally just going around, picking up all the properties, you know, just going random drive is going to be a bit dull but there'll be, that's what we do, so I quite like that so there's a bit of persuasion and, you know, building alliances on the side. My uncle's walked away, very upset. I get that guy but I was like,
Oh, absolutely awful. I think I just one thing about board games, which is nice because if you're playing a computer version of a board game, you don't have that you can't negotiate pewter to be like, Hey, can I make a pass of this they're like no instantly buys property easily charger the eyes, like Alright well I hate this and the HQ.
Unknown Speaker
Computer says no.
Yeah, computer says no, no, but I think of noxious weather with peak my competitive side, make it my mission to try and destroy them
Unknown Speaker
mean it's kind of funny because I'm like, I don't know if I would go a sore winner because I would just get super annoyed I personally get incredibly annoyed be like wow okay we know you swept that last game, but maybe shut up about it.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, but wouldn't I know you as well as having told me the movie about losing like the cards weren't in your favorite this time like just get over it, it's fine.
That's true, but you know it also Sucks to suck does do better. Okay. Yeah, good.
Unknown Speaker
You're right though because we're losers, I'm like, I'm sorry that you're not having fun, you can sit out if it bothers you that much. Yeah, but then I don't have time for that. I might have to go a sore winner also but just know that I'll be incredibly unhappy about it and that will be conspired with the other players to tear you down.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, that was a difficult question and one that all of us would face playing board games.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, Oh my god there's one in every group and like I said if there isn't one in the group, it's you.
Unknown Speaker
I'll keep that in mind. Last question. Yeah, question number four, would you rather only be able to play Quick card based games in scenarios like you're on a train ride the spreads, or just you know have about 15 minutes to pass the time and you can whip out like a quick card game, or be able to play full on board games with everyone is free to me. So, say you have like four hours and people are all available, that's when you can have like dedicated board game type.
Oh, this is tough because I have been am currently still in both of those situations, just because like I said like, sorry to bring it back to d&d I know, tabletop games but it is difficult finding time to gather everybody but like hey let's sit down for a few hours and play Dungeons and Dragons, it's yeah it's difficult to get people's schedules in line up, but then only playing like small little card games.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Have you heard of double,
double, no with that,
so it's a game here that one of my colleagues from a previous job, they introduced me says basically it's like road cards and they have different pictures on it but it's always the same pictures but they're just different orders, and you've too much, a picture on your car to the one that's in the middle. So, for example, there might be like, several of my car that's the same as the previous car so I would be like, oh zebra. My car died. Going as quick as you can, to lose all of your cards, but on the car. The pictures are different shapes, like different sizes or they're in different positions or they're you know upside down or whatever so it can be really difficult to get like a really good flow on but then suddenly you get stuck and you're like, look, I got this card like there is nothing that's the same, but there is.
Unknown Speaker
Okay, I feel like to play this didn't leave or some variant of, and there were like round cards or something right
yeah with a purple and yellow.
Yes we did.
Yeah, there we go.
Yeah, I think those games, they pass the time a lot faster to the fish short quick card games because I have a D again at the end base game but it's not the end it's a DND adjacent but it's called dungeon mayhem and you have your four characters and you're just trying to kill each other. Excellent,
yeah we played it in Scotland, too. Yeah, cuz I brought it with being FOB played on like train rides in in Airbnb and things and it's just really fun because those ones you're just kind of you can you can all aim to attack one person or you can just do whatever you want because each character has their different strengths and weaknesses. Yeah, those games go by very, very quickly,
Unknown Speaker
and it's like, no, no would fall into that category as well he just pulled that out and was like, Oh, you're not friends at the end of it but there's that too.
Yes. I didn't when I add two plus four.
Yeah but then that's the good thing about those games because they are so sure you can play another round. You're like, I'll get my revenge. Works be really unfortunate it's going through a complete losing streak, everyone has those days, everyone has those days.
Unknown Speaker
Oh my god, I remember I think we were playing with two decks though because there was like a whole bunch of us but we went camping, ironically, we're playing with two decks and my poor cousin, he had like, 20 some odd cards because he was in the prime position for everyone to just dunk on him to get his dad to help them
Unknown Speaker
cool. Yeah, so when I play Udn and someone has like a lot of cars like oh geez for health care or what's taking so long. Like through their cards by you know it happens to me just as much. Look at savers nobody is like Mario Kart and this is where like 50% Skill A 50% chance.
Unknown Speaker
I would say it's probably more skill than chance to be honest but chess does play a role in that.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, so would you go with a quick card game then, yeah, I think so, is
Unknown Speaker
at least because if we're trying to make the most of the time we have, then that's quick and easy and once, though it is fun to sit down and just have like a really meaty like log base game, those are fun too, but they'll be far more time that we don't really have a guess as as it is to say so quick card games. It is,
Unknown Speaker
yeah, I think I joined you on that one but it's like my favorite thing to do is I've organized enough to do that just board games. Try something new, we'll play all of our favorites or whatever like it's just such a good amount of time to spend with people and I just really enjoy that and it's like you know he gets there actually can get drinks and hopefully a two afternoon play games together, I really do miss that. Yeah, just for convenience, The quick games.
Yeah, do you have time for a bonus question.
In a episode about board games, of course, either. So this one's for you lovely listeners we be chatting away about our favorite board games, you know, feel free to let us know what yours are, but would you rather a question for today is, would you rather play a really long strategy based game or a lightning fast reflex based game. Let us know in the comments what you would choose and what some of your favorites are. Maybe we can add that to our own collection,
Unknown Speaker
but yes please, my love, tabletop games, please, If you have suggestions, please hit me up.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, remember for those in the UK is that two games is a really good website to stock up on those cabinets if you need something, give them.
I mean here in Toronto we have lots of lots of lots of game stores so I can't remember any of my head because it's been that long, but they're all great for Google will send you on your way. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
So that was my bonus would you rather that be, you have the, what would you do scenario for today Melissa
Unknown Speaker
Yes. All right, so let's get going, shall we?
SAREENA:
I'm scared, but yes.
MELISSA:
Let me paint the picture for you, so it's a rainy day, and there's nothing on the internet that's exciting for you, your friends are all in this room with you and you decide to poke around for something to do. Now you have come across an old deck of cards in the attic, they're worn, they're very very well loved, and there's three letters a door in the back. What makes this deck different is that the faces of all the people currently in the house are on the backs of these cards. So what would you do?
SAREENA:
It's the curse, dude. Okay.
MELISSA:
Arguably all who know games are cursed depending on how you play. True,
Unknown Speaker
but this is clearly our life, number that is well, I'm imagining this is like a Jumanji style game.
Unknown Speaker
I mean, I did take a little bit of inspiration but I was like a board game, who know that the stakes are super high.
Unknown Speaker
I would pick up the deck of cards, as I like through them but is there anything else that I noticed, other than the vibe but all of our pictures are on the sides of the card. Well,
Unknown Speaker
what kind of gets you is that these cards are weathered and like Well played, but the pictures of your faces are relatively recent.
Unknown Speaker
I would pick up the deck, that would take my friends I'd be like, Oh my God, look what I just buy, I told you all ASICs workers, because this is because if it's recent pictures of us but the weather does but equal, how many times a day did the deep into the Arctic play that game but how long have they been playing for as well like I just wouldn't, because like what you plus two cards you deny or, I mean, all the games you could have picked this, I suppose with the least amount of danger, but is it that we lose we become you know we get sucked into the deck. You don't know that you do,
Unknown Speaker
you know, as much as I was like, Maybe we should try it. I tried that with the, with the ad of a one and stuff like that with an arrow and I'm like no, I'm going to destroy the card. Oh, be like, friends, I do our morbid curiosity is piqued. But I'ma torch days.
Okay, great, that's your decision then,
Unknown Speaker
yeah, maybe I'll start looking for new places to live. But yeah, that's what I'll do I'll torch the cards bars.
Unknown Speaker
All right, so then call it.
Alright, so you have taken the very very wise decision towards this deck of cards, you have adverted, the curse that was upon these note cards, and that if you'd had actually played with it you would have been playing with years of your life. But you survived, you will live to play another day.
I'm not sure if I would, but, no, that's fair, actually.
Yeah, but no, you have survived and you all go on to live long, happy, prosperous lives without this deck of cards in it.
But like, is there demons,
I don't know what do you think
Unknown Speaker
this is, this kind of sounds like Death Note but instead of no card.
Unknown Speaker
Well I'm glad things went your way because if it hadn't been oh boy, oh god, yeah, no, I'm glad I didn't even think about taking years of our life so yeah no, that's good, good choice be like, great. I mean, you come across a curse item fire is a good solution I think yeah,
Unknown Speaker
so glad I got to survive. Is that what Wait a second through what would you do scenario, maybe your second or third at least not as bad as I thought that's not bad, is average averaging out I think it's been a really fun episode is always fun, discussing board games because you don't actually know if the board games that you've grown up as loved are actually the same to other people. Now I know that you do kokuto Cluedo.
Unknown Speaker
And you also know not that I despise monopoly and I will turn down any and all chances to play.
Unknown Speaker
That's why they have other friends I could play Monopoly with, we could all be terrible with this quite
Unknown Speaker
a whole bunch of sore winner as all of you, either.
Unknown Speaker
Give me that buddy. How about we've never lost the episode and lovely self care side off.
Unknown Speaker
Let's ride that victory Hi. Let's go.
M:
We just spent 30+ minutes talking about how board games are great! Nothing says bonding experience like working together to take down the person who’s winning!
S:
Team work makes the dream work! But the most important thing is that everyone’s having fun! There are tonnes of traditional board games out there (like all the classics), but now there are also lots of new ones that blend boards and tokens with smartphone apps for whole new experiences!
M:
It’s a whole new world of tabletop games out there, and some of them can even be played online with friends through sites like Roll20! You’re bound to find one, but if you’re overwhelmed or even stuck, just a simple deck of playing cards has many time-honoured classic games.
S:
Homework time! Wow, that was flashback to our teaching times, anyway! Go look at some board game reviews to see what clicks, or if it’s possible have a socially distanced hang out at a board game cafe! Remember that the board game is just the vehicle for the good times you’ll have with the friends you play with. May the odds be in your favour!
[Outro music playing throughout.]
